4/11/2017Maintenance Worker II (1 Position)

Sammamish Public Works Department is recruiting one (1) Maintenance Worker II position for the Parks division. Candidates should possess strong customer service ethics, be team-oriented, enjoy working outdoors and be enthusiastic about joining a busy Public Works Department Maintenance and Operations team.  Under supervision of the Infrastructure Maintenance Manager, performs general and specialized grounds maintenance duties at assigned parks and other city infrastructure and facilities. Operates a range of medium and heavy equipment. Provides support for special events. May perform duties of similar complexity in other maintenance areas as required or assigned. Technical support for parks related work tasks is provided by the Parks Maintenance Supervisor

The City currently has a team approach to its maintenance activities.  While this position is primarily active in parks maintenance the overall maintenance priorities will provide the opportunity to participate in Public Works functions.  Provides work direction and train seasonal workers.  Technical and field leadership provided by the Maintenance Leads.

This is a journey level position which will constructs small Parks and Public works capital improvement projects.  Because of the small size of the City Staff, each staff member is expected to perform a wide range of office and field duties, at a high level, as may be required from time to time.

Provides support to the Webmaster position in the Information Technology Services Division of the Finance and Information Technology Services Department located at Sammamish City Hall.  Applicant will work in a team setting under the supervision of the Sr. Information Systems Manager. The ideal candidate will have a broad interest in Municipal Government and/or web based technology and have experience updating website content, writing user documentation, working with Adobe Creative Cloud products and providing quality customer service to City staff and public.

This position is planned to be a up-to 4-month position.  Hours may vary based on workload demands, up to 40 hours per week.  This particular position is  designed to provide entry-level, hands-on work experiences for college students enrolled in technical programs related to website administration and/or web development.

3/23/2017Parks Planning Intern

Provides support to the Park Planning Division of the Parks and Recreation Department. Applicant will work in a team setting under the supervision of the Parks Project Managers or his or her designee. The ideal candidate will have a broad interest in municipal government and park planning and have experience using Adobe CC 2015 and AutoCAD 2016.

This is a temporary/seasonal full-time position designed to provide hands-on work experience for college students and/or recent college graduates in landscape architecture programs that could lead to a career as a Parks and Recreation professional landscape architect. The position is funded for four-months from the date of hire.

3/23/2017Engineering Intern

The City of Sammamish is recruiting an intern to work in each of the following areas for a total of three (3) positions:  storm water, capital projects such as roadway resurfacing projects, and traffic engineering/maintenance and operations.  These positions will provide a variety of support to the Public Works’ Engineering and Maintenance and Operations Divisions. Please indicate in your letter if you have a preference for one of the positions.  The intern will be required to work in a team setting under the supervision of either the City Engineer or the Deputy Public Works Director. The ideal candidate will have a broad interest in Municipal Government and/or Civil Engineering.

We are hiring three temporary seasonal full-time positions to work at the Sammamish City Hall, 801 228th Ave SE, Sammamish, WA  98075.  Work hours are anticipated to be 20 to 40 hours a week up to an equivalent of four months full time.  Hours vary on an “as-needed” basis and may include weekends, evenings, and/or holidays.

3/20/2017Parks Stormwater Intern - Up to 4 months

The City of Sammamish Parks Department is recruiting for a Seasonal Stormwater Intern to work up to four (4) months under the direction of the Volunteer Coordinator.  This position provides varied support services to volunteer events related to stormwater.  The stormwater intern will work in City parks and open spaces performing a variety of tasks including tree maintenance, plant installation and maintenance, and invasive plant control. All work must ensure safety, integrity, cleanliness and aesthetic appeal, as well as meet customer needs and City standards. The work requires excellent communication and customer services skills due to considerable public contact.

Work hours may be up to 30 hours per week, vary on an "as-needed" basis and may include split shifts, weekends, evenings and/or holidays.

The City of Sammamish is recruiting for Seasonal Maintenance Workers to work up to four (4) months in Parks.  All employees will be under the supervision of the Parks Maintenance Supervisor.  Technical and field leadership is provided by the full-time lead Parks Maintenance Worker. 

Because of the small size of the city staff, each staff member is expected to perform a wide range of field duties as may be required from time to time.  This position is eligible to earn overtime for hours worked over forty (40) per workweek.

The primary focus of this position is to assist in the implementation of the Parks, Recreation and Open Space Plan and Trails, Bikeways and Paths Master Plan, by managing the planning, design and construction of parks & recreation capital development projects. The position also assists in long-range planning of parks and recreation facilities, open space and trails in the City of Sammamish and adjacent jurisdictions.

Because of the small size of the City staff, each staff member is expected to perform a wide range of field and office duties from time to time. This is a full-time professional position, requiring knowledge of an advanced type. The position serves at-will at the pleasure and discretion of the City.

3/8/2017Maintenance Worker I-Parks

The City of Sammamish is accepting applications for full time Maintenance Workers I in the Parks Department.

The incumbents will perform general and specialized grounds maintenance duties at assigned parks and other city infrastructure and facilities. Operates a range of equipment including but not limited to city vehicles, machinery, and a variety of hand and power tools. Provides support for special events. May perform duties of similar complexity in other maintenance areas as required or assigned. This position is eligible to earn overtime.

3/14/2017Electrical Inspector

This position will serve as the Electrical Inspector for a wide range of electrical construction on residential and commercial projects. The Electrical Inspector is responsible for plan review and inspections for compliance with the National Electrical Code and the Washington Cities Electrical Code as well as other State laws and City of Sammamish ordinances and policies as indicated in the approved construction documents. This involves reviewing and approving construction documents prior to permit issuance and reviewing approved documents while performing electrical inspections, proper interpretation and application of adopted codes. This position assists the public at the Permit Center as well as by telephone and e-mail.  This position will be responsible for the daily maintenance and operation of electrical inspection files and permit Inspection data entry.

Because of the small size of the City staff, each staff member is expected to perform a wide range of field and office duties including building inspections from time to time.  This is a full-time professional position, requiring knowledge of an advanced type.  The position serves at-will at the pleasure and discretion of the City.

SUPERVISION:       The Electrical Inspector works under the direct supervision of the Building Official.  The Electrical Inspector will not supervise other staff.

The Recreation Intern works in a team setting under the supervision of the Recreation Supervisor to provide varied support recreational services in the City of Sammamish from outdoor community events to sports camps. This position will primarily focus on marketing.  An ideal candidate would have a strong skill set or interest in graphic design.  The work requires excellent communication and customer services skills due to considerable public contact.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as a site or event coordinator for various special events, activities, and programs.
  • Assist in specific recreation program areas such as camps, classes, or special events.
  • Assist with reports, statistics, budgets, and evaluation of camps, classes, and events.

Works in a team setting under the supervision of the Beach Front Manager and/or the Assistant Beach Front Manager to provide a safe swimming environment for the public.  The work requires excellent communication and customer services skills due to considerable public contact.  Required classes start as early as March 2017, and the season ends on Labor Day.  We are recruiting for Jr. Lifeguards, and regular Lifeguards.

GENERAL FUNCTIONS: This position will be primarily supervising individuals or groups who rent indoor facilities. The schedule is flexible but the majority of the hours available are during weekends and events throughout the year.
