Summary

Join us October 19th – Open House #3 for the Sahalee Way Widening Project.

The City of Sammamish is hosting a third open house for the Sahalee Way Widening project, NE 25th Way to NE 37th Way. Please join us for a brief presentation sharing how your feedback has shaped the scope of the project. There will also be an update on what is being done to address broader concerns of traffic, safety, and reducing impacts to trees and property.

Meeting Details:

Wednesday, October 19

6-7:30 p.m. (Presentation at the beginning of the meeting)

Boys and Girls Club, Sammamish

825 228th Ave NE, Sammamish, WA 98074

Based on feedback and a preliminary design analysis, the recommended scope is for a 3-lane street section with sidewalk and bike lane on the west side, widened shoulder on the east, a raised center median island, and a new traffic signal at NE 28th Place / 223rd Ave NE.  A 5-lane section was analyzed for the corridor, but was found to not improve travel times to Redmond. The City is working on strategies to improve traffic, including expanding the adaptive traffic signal control north to SR 202, in partnership with WSDOT and King County.

Alternatives Analysis Report Overview
The City has completed a preliminary design analysis evaluating elements needed to accommodate existing and future traffic. Specifically, the analysis looked at peak travel forecasts for the year 2035 and recommended a 3-lane street section, as well as signal control for NE 28th Place/223rd Avenue NE. The signalized intersection with Hwy 202 was also evaluated for potential improvements.
